110% for Romsey Extra residents. Cllr Nick Adams-King called the tax increase “shameful”, saying: “Those proposing the merger of Romsey Extra and Romsey Town councils highlighted efficiency as one of the main benefits. At no point was there any mention of a council tax increase of this kind for the almost 4,000 residents of Romsey Extra, an outcome that’s neither efficient nor well thought through.
“Instead of saving money the merger is costing taxpayers £83,000 over and above the former parish councils' joint budget. Residents quite rightly deserve to know how their taxes are spent and what benefits they will see, there is neither a plan nor any identified benefit from this increase.”
Tim Mayer of Kings Chase, called the increase “immoral and irresponsible.”
He continued: “I am disappointed because as with everything it is middle income earners that will be the hardest hit.”
