This year's Christmas Light switch on is set for Saturday November 25th. As usual, I have made a grant of £1,000 towards Romsey's wonderful Christmas lights from my County Councillor community grant.
Each County Councillor has an amount of £8,000 to put towards community schemes in their area. Romsey town centre isn't in my division, but other parts of the town are, (Abbotswood, Oxlease, Cupernham Lane, Crampmoor, Halterworth and parts of Whitenap) and I'm sure the residents of Romsey Rural enjoy the wonderful Christmas lights as much as those who live in the town.
Other grants from this year's pot have been made to:
Sherfield English District Community Association for printing costs
St Deny's Church Chilworth, to their community programme
The Romsey Show
St Margaret's Church, East Wellow toward their roof repair
St Leonard's Church, Sherfield English, toward their car park lease
Wellow Lunch Club toward their Christmas Cream Tea
Wellow Men's Shed toward new equipment.
A couple of further grants for the West Tytherley area in the pipeline. There is still a small amount left if any deserving organisation in Romsey Rural would like to get in touch.
