It’s been a busy time at TVBC, with portfolio changes seeing me now looking after Communities, Leisure and Tourism.

I was also pleased to hear the answer to my question at a recent HCC meeting which has revealed the County is looking again at the introduction of 20mph speed limits in residential areas.  This could be really helpful to many of our communities.

Fly tipping continues to be a hot topic and I’m always delighted to hear about recent successes that Test Valley has had prosecuting these horrible actions.  Rarely does a month go past without another successful prosecution being reported.

Tourism has taken a real battering over the past 18 months due to the Covid19 pandemic.  It was therefore delightful to have a Test Valley Tourism group meeting out at the Hawk Conservancy, where some 25 people came along to share their experiences and to re-start the all-important business networking.

There are a couple of planning applications by the A303 & A34 that are receiving my careful attention at the moment.  Recycling firms Raymond Brown and Bryan Hirst both have applications in to expand their sites and as can be imagined, residents are concerned.  Neither will be determined before early next year, so there is time to scrutinise all aspects of their proposals.
