**Whitenap Development - outline planning application lodged**
You might be aware that the 2016 Test Valley Local Plan designated a new community be built at Whitenap, south of Romsey.
This will be a development that has between 1,100 and 1,300 new homes, with road access on to Luzborough Lane and its own local centre. There will also be a new primary school and parkland created to the south of Tadburn.
This application only sets out the outline of the plan, designating the area to be built upon, identifying access points and giving some indications of housing density, height and where the school, local centre and other amenities might be located.
The really good news is that the original suggestion there should be a bus access for the development through Tadburn, with a bus gate at St Barb Close and another one onto Whitenap Lane, appears to have been removed. I had lobbied hard for this to be taken out of their plans, it made no sense at all to me and would have caused considerable disruption for the local residents in Tadburn and Whitenap.
Of concern is that while land has been set aside for a pedestrian bridge over the railway, it is not explicitly included in the plan. I'll be looking for firm reassurance about that. The bridge MUST be included in my opinion to ensure connectivity to the town cente.
I have copied some of the plans below.
